We are delighted to have a level 5 category on our food hygiene awarded by the Environmental Health Department. It is thanks to the hard work and training of staff and volunteers. However, we must all be vigilant and there are some tips for customers we always share in the shop:
Best Before dates are for guidance but USE BY is an instruction and we cannot legally sell anything beyond the date.
However, we are permitted to freeze items before they reach their use by. If you have a chilled item, the date it is frozen is circled. Items, once frozen, should never be defrosted and then frozen again – it can cause serious harm.
Frozen products have guidelines for how long they can be frozen: fish, for example only a month so please check.
