Waste not, want not…

We share donated and rescued food to nourish people in our community.

We are a not-for-profit organisation in Northampton. Our community shop, emergency parcels and other projects help people in food poverty or in need of low cost groceries.

Passionate about saving food

Foodkind’s Headlands Hub allows us to share food with charity projects, as we did through the pandemic. Together with our community shop openings, we nourish thousands of people a month, thanks to strong partnerships with supermarkets and other suppliers. Our work has featured on ITV news and BBC Radio.

All projects are not-for-profit:

  • Community shop and larder openings
  • Bulk donations to charities and groups, at no cost to them
  • Emergency food boxes for families in crisis
  • Events/talks to encourage a ‘waste not, want not’;
  • We were selected for a national panel about our work to collect and deliver food for thousands of people in need.
  • Our emergency parcels and supplies to charity projects help people who are disabled, vulnerable or disadvantaged.

We were nominated University of Northampton Changemakers and won three medals in the Weetabix Food and Drink Awards including the Food Hero category.

This visibility helps us in our campaign for greater sustainability, and awareness of the way food waste contributes to greenhouse gases and climate change.

Foodkind C.I.C. is a private company limited by guarantee without share capital registered in England and Wales; Registered not-for-profit, Registered number: 10431992 . Registered office: 27 Lime Avenue, Northampton NN3 2HA

Our volunteers are crucial: they collect food from supermarkets; process and store produce in our shops and stalls; cook or serve meals or help with events. If you can spare some time, please do get in touch.

Help our supply chain

We are supported by a range of high street names, but also receive produce from smaller shops, restaurants and caterers, as well as large food producers and those with allotments or smallholdings. We welcome new suppliers.
