Foodkind is a registered Community Interest Company.
Our mission is to collect surplus food to help the environment and people in our community.
We are a not-for-profit social enterprise, founded ten years ago.
Seven days a week, our volunteers collect good food from shops and restaurants – thanks to our Fareshare Go and Neighbourly partners, as well as the supermarket and distribution managers.
Their support means lorry loads of perfectly edible food that we ‘rescue.’

From our origins at Elsie’s Cafe and original shop in St.James, our team has been key to the company’s success. Find out more here.
We expanded to add a Kettering shop and Cafe Zero, pop-ups, events and talks – before the pandemic saw us focus on food aid, working with other organisations.
Now we are based solely at our hub in Headlands, Northampton, excited about development of the site by our landlords, United Reformed Church.
Foodkind CIC’s social impact is measured by the number of customers at our community shop, and the tonnes of food we save from landfill.

Our volunteer collectors make what we do possible. As committed environmentalists, they think nothing of hauling crates of food to help nourish people in the community.
We have been specialists in this since 2016 and are accredited Fareshare Community Redistributors. Indeed, the relationship with the organisation and representative, Tony Yorke, have been a key part of our growth.
Another cornerstone is our collectors going out at all hours, their commitment to food safety training and the protocols for transporting chilled or frozen food.
Our hygiene rating is the highest possible: level 5.
Our hub staff have the task of sorting and presenting the produce, chilled and ambient goods and welcoming our customers.
