Foodkind CIC has its hub in The Headlands where we pack our emergency food parcels for children and their families at risk (via official agency referral only).
This service is a collaboration with expert family support teams to identify those children most at risk in homes where poverty, addiction, domestic violence and health problems make them vulnerable.
About The Headlands Hub
As an environmental project which collects food surplus and donations from restaurants, supermarkets and distributors, the hub allows drop off and storage of produce and is where we run projects, supply food aid and open a community shop.
The hub is in use seven days a week, with 3 community shop public openings.
In addition, we work with Northamptonshire Children’s Trust to provide the food parcels its case workers take to families in need, many of whom are in crisis or managing very challenging circumstances. A video of this work is available on our social media.
We have also run work experience sessions in the past – working with care leavers and young people with intellectual and learning challenges from a nearby sixth form,
Past Christmas events have seen us supply toys and food boxes via Northamptonshire Children’s Trust, Growing Together and UAA, among others.
We have also run ‘coat drives’ after kind donations by corporate sponsors.

Our Hub
The hub site in The Headlands is owned by The United Reformed Church and its generous support allows us to use a large space to operate from – with the hope of supporting the URC’s ambitious visions for a new community hub there in future.
Our long partnership was really cemented during the pandemic and we are part of its exciting vision for an expansion to the site as a community space.
Our community shop prevents food waste and helps customer budgets.
Around 800 households a month access the produce, ambient and chilled food. It is open 6 hours/3 days a week, run largely by a community of volunteers.
